DIY - Envelope

Today we release a new section in the blog. We will begin to explain a DIY every week. All of them will be focused on sewing. The first one will be how to make an envelope. It is perfect for celebrations or for sending letters/postcards. Well, here we go step by step:

Materials:
. Wrapping paper
. Embroidery thread
. Needle
. Tape measure
. Glue
. A butterfly lace

1. Step 1: We begin by marking in a paper a rectangle with this dimensions:  38cm x 14,5cm, but you can do it with the size that you prefer. Cut the rectangle and bend the piece. Do not forget to leave a margin of 4 cm for the flap, as you can see in Figure 1.
2. After the previous step, we mark the points for sewing at 1 cm from the borders and separated 1 cm in between.
3. We’ll take a needle and thread to join the two flaps. We choose an embroidery thread because it is stronger than others, but you can choose whatever you want. We’ll have to sew from the front to the back without forgetting to leave the first point of the back without sewing. 
4. The ending will be inclined, as you can see in picture 4.
5. Finally we are going to glue the butterfly in the front of the envelope. We have our envelope ready to send or for a present!

. Hilo de bordar
. Aguja
. Cinta métrica
. Pegamento
. Una mariposa de encaje

1. Empezamos marcando un rectángulo, en nuestro caso de 38cm x 14,5cm, podéis hacerlo del tamaño que os venga mejor. Una vez cortada la pieza, la doblamos dejando  4 cm de margen para la solapa, como se puede ver en la imagen 1.
2. Después marcaremos cada 1 cm los puntos por donde coseremos, dejando una distancia de 1 cm en los laterales.
3. Cogeremos hilo y aguja para unir las dos solapas. El hilo que elegimos es de bordar porque es más fuerte, pero elijan el que más les guste. Tendremos que coser de a delante hacia atrás sin olvidarse de dejar el primer punto de la parte trasera sin coser.
4. El resultado final del cosido sea inclinado, como se puede ver en la imagen 4.
5. Por último pegaremos nuestra mariposa a la parte delantera del sobre. ¡Ya está nuestro sobre listo para enviar o regalar!
