DIY - Frida Kahlo postcard

It is not a secret that we love postcards and more if they are handmade and are of Frida Kahlo. This is a very simple tutorial with a spectacular result.


Materials:

• Glue stick, it is perfect for to glue fabric in paper.
• Various felt colors (black, light pink, dark pink, red and skin).
• Scissors.
• Thick Paper like watercolor paper, you can find it on fine art supplies store, and you might find it with the postcard format, if not you can cut it.
• Needle and thread.

1. We are going to use the drawing of Frida to cut the pieces. We have to cut the next pieces: head, jacket, hair, body and t-shirt. The flowers can be made without pattern. You can make them with the shape you like it.

2. Sew the flowers to hair as in picture 2.

3. We put all the pieces on the paper like a puzzle and we proceed to stick them.
When placing the pieces, we liked more in a little lower position, so we had to cut the remaining parts of the jacket and T-shirt as seen in picture 4.

4. We cut the eyes, eyebrows and mouth. Be patience!, especially if you are so bold as us and decide that you do not need an eye pattern. Result: Now, we know that we are not virtuous with scissors and we lost a lot of time. Tip: Use one of the eyes of the drawing to make them as similar as possible.

DIY - Frida Kahlo postal

No es ningún secreto que nos encantan las postales y más si son hechas a mano y son de Frida Kahlo. Es un tutorial muy sencillo que da un resultado espectacular.


Materiales:

• Pegamento de barra, va perfecto para pegar tejido a papel.
• Fieltro de varios colores (negro, rosa claro, rosa oscuro, rojo y color carne)
• Tijeras
• Papel grueso, ya lo compramos en una papeleria con este formato.
• Hilo y aguja

1. Usando como base el dibujo de Frida cortamos las piezas que van a componer nuestra postal (cabeza, chaqueta, pelo, cuerpo, camisa y cara.) Las florecitas las hicimos a mano con la tijera podéis hacerlas de la forma que más os guste.

2. Cosemos las flores al pelo como en la imagen 2.

3. Colocamos todas las piezas como si fuese un puzle y las pegamos al papel.

4. A la hora de colocar las piezas nos gustaba más como quedaba un poco más abajo. Por lo que tuvimos que recortar el sobrante de las piezas de la chaqueta y la camisa como se ve en la foto 4.

5. Recortamos los ojos, las cejas, el entrecejo y la boca. Armaros de paciencia, especialmente si sois tan osadas como nosotras y decidís que para los ojos no necesitáis el patrón. A parte de demostrar que no somos virtuosas de las tijeras perdimos un montón de tiempo. Consejo: usa uno de los ojos del dibujo para que queden lo más parecido posible.
