DIY pincushion.

This week we will make a pincushion. It is the item that you must to have close when you are sewing. To do it we employ Fuxico or Yo Yo technique. The best thing about this technique is that you can use the remnants of fabric that you have at home and turn them into something useful and cute.

Materials:
• Beautiful fabric
• Embroidery thread
• Sewing thread
• Scissors
• Fiber fill
• Embroidery hoop 7 “(optional), use it to mark the diameter.

1. We mark a circle on the fabric, we use a frame of 7 ”, but we can make any size and mark it with any other object but always in a circular shape.
2. Cut the circle leaving an edge of about 5 to 7 millimeters.
3. We take needle and thread and we start to sew the fabric around the entire perimeter like in picture 3.
4. Once we finish we start to fill with fiber fill and pull the thread to completely close the circle. It should look like in picture 4.
5 - 6. We take the embroidery thread and we pass the needle through the opening taking care to extract the needle through the central part of the closed face of our piece. We repeat what you see in picture 5 for 8 times, being careful to always pass through the center as in picture 6. In this way the pincushion will be marked into 8 portions imitating flower petals.
7. We put a button on the center of the flower, like a stamen, to decorate it.
8. Finally we will close the hole which we used to fill flower with a button.

DIY alfiletero.
Esta semana vamos a hacer un alfiletero. Un elemento muy práctico cuando estás cosiendo.  Para hacerlo emplearemos la técnica del fuxico. Lo mejor de esta técnica es que puedes aprovechar los retales que tienes por casa y convertirlos en algo útil y mono. Pues haya vamos los materiales y el paso a paso:

Materiales:
• Tela bonita
• Hilo de bordar
• Hilo de coser
• Tijeras
• Bastidor 7" (opcional), lo usamos para marcar el diámetro, pero pueden marcarlo con cualquier otra cosa y del tamaño que prefieran.
• Relleno de peluche

1. Marcamos un círculo en la tela, nosotros usamos un bastidor de 7", pero lo pueden hacer de cualquier otro tamaño y marcarlo con cualquier otro objeto.
2. Cortamos el circulo dejando un borde de unos 5 o 7 milímetros.
3. Cogemos aguja e hilo y vamos a ir cosiendo la tela como si la estuviésemos frunciendo.
4. Una vez esté todo cosido rellenamos con relleno de peluche y tiramos del hilo para cerrar el círculo. Tiene que quedar como la imagen 4.
5 - 6. Cogemos el hilo de bordar y metemos la aguja por la apertura teniendo cuidado de que salga por la parte central de la cara cerrada de nuestra pieza. Volvemos a repetir lo que se ve en la imagen 5 durante 8 veces, teniendo mucho cuidado para pasar siempre por el centro como en la imagen 6. De esta forma el alfiletero nos quedara marcado en 8 porciones imitando a pétalos de flor.
7. Ponemos un botón en la parte central de la flor, a modo de estambre, para      adornarla.
8. Por último vamos a tapar el agujero que queda en la parte de abajo, por donde rellenamos la flor, poniéndole un botón.
